# Build workflows and apps from Claude Code with the geni CLI

> Coding agents like Claude Code can now create, validate, publish, and test General Input workflows and apps from local files with the geni CLI.

The `geni` CLI can now author code workflows, agent workflows, and apps end to end. Local files are the draft: your coding agent edits them with its own tools, `geni resource validate` checks them without saving, `geni resource publish` makes them live, and `geni workflow test` runs the published version in the cloud. It's the same build loop the in-product agent follows, backed by the same server-side checks. See the [developer page](/developers).

### How it works

- **Lifecycle commands.** `geni resource` creates, pulls, validates, configures, and publishes any resource; `geni workflow` tests runs and inspects executions; `geni app` checks builds, runs handlers, and reads errors.
- **One validation path.** The CLI runs the same spec and type checks as the dashboard, so the two can't drift.
- **Access-checked.** Every command that takes a resource ID is checked against your membership, exactly as in the dashboard.
- **Byte-exact files.** Images and document templates survive pull and publish unchanged.
- **Full run traces.** `geni workflow execution --download` writes the run, logs, input, and agent thread to disk, the same trace the cloud agent reads when it debugs.

Developer docs cover every command.
