# Workspace notifications delivered as Slack DMs

> Admins connect Slack once, members are matched by email, and each notification type can go to email, a Slack DM, or both.

Notifications used to go out by email only. A workspace admin can now connect [Slack](/apps/slack), and each member chooses, per notification type, whether it arrives by email, as a Slack DM from the workspace's bot, or both. That covers auto-disabled workflows, failed triggers, low balance, balance refills, revoked credentials, and workflows, credentials, or databases shared with you.

### How it works

- **One-click setup.** Add to Slack runs our managed Slack OAuth, or an admin can pick an existing Slack connection. The token is stored encrypted on a dedicated notification connection, separate from anyone's personal credential.
- **Automatic matching.** Members are matched to Slack users by email, admins can correct any match, and resyncs never overwrite a manual match. Members can send themselves a test DM.
- **Permissioned.** Managing the Slack connection requires a new Manage notification channels permission, held by Admins and Owners.
- **Independent channels.** Delivery fans out per channel, so a Slack failure never blocks the email, and email and Slack render from the same content.
- **Graceful failure.** An invalid token disables the workspace connection with a reconnect path, an unreachable member disables only their link, and rate limits never disable anything.
