# Send messages to an agent mid-run without stopping it

> Message an agent while it works and your note lands at its next step, so it adjusts in the same run. Undo takes it back before it lands.

You no longer have to wait for an agent to finish before you correct it. Send a message while a run is in flight and it shows up as a dimmed Queued bubble. At the agent's next step, the message is added to the conversation and the agent responds to it in the same run. Changed your mind? Undo on the bubble, or Escape in the composer, takes it back and returns the text and attachments to the composer. Queuing works in chat and while building workflows, apps, and skills.

### How it works

- **Held apart until it lands.** A queued message is stored separately, so nothing that reads the conversation (the model, summaries, titles, exports) sees it early. It joins the conversation exactly once.
- **One entry point.** Every way a run starts or restarts checks the queue, and mid-run the agent checks it at each step boundary.
- **Nothing stranded.** If a run fails or is cancelled, queued messages become ordinary history; if it pauses for your input, the queue waits for the resumed run.
- **Undo is unambiguous.** Either the model never saw the message, or it's already in the transcript.
