# Paste a domain, get a full prospect dossier before the call

> Type a company domain or pick an account you already track, and get positioning, pricing, news and the people worth knowing on one screen.

- Workflow type: app
- Services: Bright Data, HubSpot
- Categories: Sales
- Published: 2026-08-16

## What it does

- Checks your CRM first, so the rep sees straight away whether the account already exists and which colleague owns it
- Reads the company's own site for how they position themselves, what they charge, and what has changed lately on their product and careers pages
- Pulls recent news and mentions, plus a short list of the people worth knowing at that account, into tabs on the same screen
- Lets the rep edit the summary before anything is saved, then files it as a note, adds any new person as a contact, and books the follow up as a task

## What you'll need

- A HubSpot login with access to companies, contacts, notes and tasks
- A Bright Data account, which is the web data service that reads company pages, runs the news searches, and collects public company and profile records
- The domain of the company you want to research, or an account that is already in your CRM
- Nothing on a schedule and no calendar connection, since reps open this themselves one account at a time

## Prompt

I want a research desk that my reps open before every discovery call. It is rep initiated and works one account at a time: the rep pastes a company domain or picks a company that already exists in our CRM, and the app builds a one screen dossier they can read in the few minutes before the call. Nothing runs on a schedule and there is no calendar involved. This is deep preparation for a single account, not list building.

The entry screen is a single search box that accepts either a domain like acme.com or a company name. The very first thing that happens, before any research starts, is a HubSpot Search Companies call filtered on the company domain property, falling back to a full text search on the name. Show the answer at the top of the dossier as a CRM strip: whether the account already exists, the record owner resolved to a real person's name with HubSpot List Owners, the lifecycle stage, and when the record was last modified. If there is no match, say so plainly and carry on researching from the domain alone, since a brand new account is the normal case. If several companies match, let the rep pick the right one rather than guessing. Under the search box, list the dossiers the workspace has built recently so a rep can reopen one in a click.

The dossier itself is one screen with a header and three tabs, plus a summary panel that stays visible. The header carries the company name, domain, the CRM strip and the actions. Each tab and the summary panel load independently, each shows its own freshness timestamp saying when that panel was last collected, and each has its own refresh button so the rep can re-pull only the part that looks stale instead of rebuilding the whole dossier.

The first tab is the company's own site, built with Bright Data Scrape URL with Web Unlocker. Start from the homepage, read the navigation to discover the pages that matter, then scrape the ones you find: the product or platform page, the pricing page, the about page, and the careers or jobs page. From those pages pull out how the company positions itself in its own words, who it says it sells to, the pricing model and named plans if a pricing page exists, and what has visibly changed recently on the product and careers pages, for example a new plan tier, a new product line, or a hiring push concentrated in one function. Show every extracted claim next to a link to the page it came from, because the rep may repeat these facts out loud on a live call and needs to be able to check them. When a page does not exist or comes back blocked, say that plainly in the panel instead of leaving a silent gap.

The second tab is recent news and mentions, built with Bright Data SERP Search. Run a small set of searches for the company name on its own and paired with terms like funding, acquisition, partnership, launch and leadership. Keep results from roughly the last six to twelve months, drop results from the company's own domain since those already live in the first tab, and deduplicate stories that are the same event covered twice. Group what is left into funding and financial events, product and partnership news, people and leadership changes, and general coverage, each item showing its headline, source, date and link.

The third tab is the people worth knowing, built with Bright Data's LinkedIn dataset scrapers. Use Trigger Dataset Collection against the LinkedIn company dataset for the company page and against the LinkedIn people profile dataset for individual profiles, poll with Check Snapshot Status until the snapshot reports ready, then read the records with Download Snapshot Results. Resolve the dataset ids once at setup with List Marketplace Datasets rather than hardcoding them. Collection is asynchronous and can take a few minutes, so this tab has to show progress and let the rep read the other tabs while it is still running. From the company record show headcount, industry, headquarters and the company's own description. From the profiles show the handful of people worth knowing, their title, how long they have been in the role, and a one line reason each one matters to this call, ranked so the likely buyer and the likely blockers come first rather than whoever the data happened to return first.

The summary panel is the part the rep actually reads first. It is a short written brief that pulls the three tabs together: what this company does, what changed recently that gives us a reason to call, who we should be talking to, and two or three discovery questions written for this specific account. It must be fully editable. The rep can rewrite any of it, delete a line they do not trust, and add something they know from their own history with the account. Never write anything to the CRM without the rep pressing the button, and always write the edited text rather than the originally generated text.

A Save to CRM action opens a short confirmation panel listing exactly what is about to be written, with each item individually toggleable. It writes the summary as a note against the company record with HubSpot Create Note. It adds the people the rep has explicitly ticked in the people tab with HubSpot Create Contact, associated to the company. It books the follow up with HubSpot Create Task, defaulting to a subject that names the company, a due date a few days out, and the signed in rep as the owner. Contacts are only ever created one at a time and only for people the rep ticked, because we can search companies for duplicates but we cannot search contacts, so the rep is the duplicate check. Say that on the confirmation panel: warn that a ticked person may already exist in the CRM.

Cache every dossier per company domain and share the cache across the workspace, so reopening an account is instant and two reps working the same account do not each pay for a fresh collection. Cache each panel separately with its own collected timestamp, since news goes stale far faster than a pricing page. Show the age of each panel in plain language, like collected 3 days ago, and let the rep refresh one panel or rebuild the whole dossier. When a rep opens a cached dossier, render it immediately from cache and never block the screen on a background refresh.

Handle the unglamorous states properly, since the rep is usually opening this with minutes to spare: a domain that does not resolve to a real site, a site that blocks the scrape, a company with no pricing page, a profile collection that fails or times out, a company with no recent news at all. In each case say what happened in that panel, keep the rest of the dossier usable, and let the rep save what they do have.

## How to customize

- Change which pages get read on the prospect's site, for example adding a customers page or an integrations page
- Set how long each panel stays fresh before the app suggests collecting it again, since news goes stale faster than a pricing page
- Adjust the follow up task it books, including the default due date and who it gets assigned to

## FAQ

### Does the company have to already be in my CRM?

No. You can paste any domain and research an account from scratch. The CRM check runs first purely so you know whether the account already exists and who owns it before you start working it.

### Will this work on a free HubSpot plan?

Yes. It reads companies and writes notes, contacts and tasks, all of which are available on every HubSpot plan including the free CRM.

### How long does a dossier take to build?

A couple of minutes the first time, because it reads several pages and collects professional profiles in the background. After that the dossier is cached, so reopening the account is instant and you can refresh just the panel that looks out of date.

### Does anything get written to my CRM automatically?

No. Nothing is saved until you press the button, and you can edit the summary first. The confirmation panel lists exactly what is about to be written so you can untick anything you do not want.

### Will it create duplicate contacts in my CRM?

People are only added one at a time and only when you tick them, so nothing gets bulk added behind your back. The company level check for an existing account runs automatically before any research starts.
