iPhone app: chats and lists that move like Messages

Conversations and the Specialists list in the General Input iPhone app now move the way Messages and WhatsApp do. A new reply slides the conversation up instead of jumping, the keyboard stays open after you send so you can keep typing, and a specialist that starts working glides to the top of the list instead of appearing there. A conversation you have already opened shows at once, with no loading placeholder.

How it works

  • Sending. Your message flies up from the text box, the conversation slides up to make room, and the typing bubble pops in a moment later. The keyboard stays up, as it does in Messages.
  • Replies. A reply takes the typing bubble's place in the same frame, and each step of a longer run slides the conversation along rather than snapping it.
  • Lists. When a specialist or conversation changes place, the rows it passes slide aside, and its light blue working background fades in and out instead of switching.
  • Brief connection drops. The typing bubble and the end of a conversation mention connection trouble only after it has lasted three seconds, so a short blip no longer flashes a warning.

Also shipped

  • Two replies in a row from a specialist now show as two messages instead of running together.
  • Attachments leave the text box the moment you send, and stopping a run keeps the keyboard up.
  • A specialist's figure finishes its move before it rests instead of snapping still.
