A weekly 1:1 coaching board built on Gong scorecard trends
See every rep's scorecard average, call stats and direction of travel on one screen, then prep the 1:1 with a brief you can send them.
Build me an app I can run my weekly sales coaching ritual out of. I manage a sales team, and Gong shows me scorecards but not how a rep is trending over time, so I want one screen that shows movement rather than just this week's number. The app opens on a roster of my direct reports.
The home page is a roster table, one row per rep, with a period selector at the top defaulting to the last four weeks and offering month and quarter. Each row shows the rep's name, their average scorecard score across the selected period, a small sparkline of that average across the weeks in the period, their call volume, and their key interaction stats: talk ratio, longest monologue, and question rate. Next to each number put an arrow showing whether it moved up or down versus the immediately preceding period of the same length, with the size of the change. Flag any rep whose scorecard average dropped versus the prior period and sort flagged reps to the top, so the first thing I see is who deserves my fifteen minutes this week.
Build the roster from Gong. Use List Users Extensive for the roster and the reporting structure, List Answered Scorecards for the scores in each period, List Scorecards for the scorecard and question definitions so scores can be labelled properly, List Interaction Stats for talk ratio, longest monologue and question rate, List Calls Extensive for call volume and durations, and List Coaching Metrics so I can also see how much coaching activity I have logged against each rep. Always fetch both the selected period and the prior period of the same length, so every arrow has something real to compare against.
Clicking a rep opens their detail page. Show every answered scorecard for the period with the individual question scores from that review, who reviewed it, and which call it was attached to. Below that, show a trend per scorecard question: for each question on the scorecards this rep gets reviewed on, chart their score on that question over time so I can see whether last month's coaching actually stuck. That question level movement is the thing Gong does not show me and it is the whole reason I am opening this app, so give it real space rather than burying it. Then list their recent calls with date, title, duration and whether the call has been scored, calling out any calls still awaiting review.
On the rep detail page, add a Prep this 1:1 button that kicks off an embedded background agent for that rep and period. The agent reads that rep's calls with List Calls Extensive, pulls the actual words with Get Call Transcripts, and reads their scores with List Answered Scorecards, then writes a coaching brief back into the app containing three things: two or three specific moments worth reviewing together, each naming the call, a timestamp and why it matters; the single pattern to work on this week, tied to the scorecard question that is actually slipping; and one concrete behavior commitment to ask the rep for next week. Keep the brief short enough to work through in a fifteen minute conversation. While the agent runs, show the button in a working state, and drop the finished brief onto the rep's page when it lands.
Save every brief on the rep with the date and the period it covered, and show the history, so that before I write this week's brief I can see what I asked for last time and check whether it happened. Each saved brief gets a Send to rep button that delivers it as a Slack direct message from me: find the rep in Slack by matching their Gong email using List Users, call Open a Conversation to get the direct message channel, and use Send a Message with the brief formatted for Slack. Mark the brief as sent with a timestamp once it goes.
Put an Export button on the roster that appends the current scorecard trend table to a Google Sheet using Append Values, one row per rep carrying the period, their average, the change versus the prior period, call volume and each interaction stat. It should append and never overwrite, so a quarter of weekly exports builds into the history I use for quarterly reviews.
Each manager should only see their own direct reports. When someone opens the app, match them to their Gong user and show only the reps who report to them. If nobody matches, show a short explanation that the app needs their Gong account to be recognized, rather than falling back to showing the whole company.
A few things to bake in. Gong is rate limited to roughly three requests per second and its list endpoints are cursor paginated, so page through results and cache each period's data rather than refetching on every click. Scoring scales differ between scorecards, so normalize before averaging across different scorecards and always show the raw score alongside the average. If a rep has no answered scorecards in the period, still show them on the roster with their call stats filled in and the scorecard column marked as not scored, because a rep nobody reviewed is exactly the rep I need to notice.
What does this prompt do?
- One row per rep showing their scorecard average for the period you pick, a sparkline of the trend, call volume, and stats like talk ratio, longest monologue and question rate, each with an arrow for how it moved versus the period before
- Reps whose scores slipped get flagged and sorted to the top, so the first thing you see on Monday morning is who needs your fifteen minutes
- Open a rep to see every scorecard they were scored on, the movement on each individual question so you can tell whether last month's coaching stuck, and their recent calls including anything still waiting on your review
- A Prep this 1:1 button hands you a coaching brief: two or three moments worth replaying with timestamps, the one pattern to work on, and a behavior commitment for next week. Save it, send it to the rep in Slack, and look it up next week
What do I need to use this?
- A Gong account that uses scorecards, with a login that can see your team's calls, scores and interaction stats
- Your reporting structure set up in Gong, so the app knows which reps are yours
- A Slack workspace, if you want to send coaching briefs to reps as a direct message
- A Google account and a spreadsheet, if you want the quarterly export
How can I customize it?
- Change the review period and what counts as trending down, so a one point dip does not flag someone every week
- Choose which interaction stats sit on the roster, and which ones you would rather ignore
- Decide where a finished brief goes: a direct message to the rep, a shared coaching channel, or just saved in the app for your own prep
