Auto-brief your sales team when a new HubSpot lead lands

The moment a new HubSpot contact lands, we research their company, update the record, and drop a mobile-friendly briefing in your sales Slack channel.

Build an agent workflow that automatically researches and briefs my sales team on every new HubSpot lead. The trigger is a HubSpot webhook on contact.creation, so a fresh run kicks off the moment a contact is created.

Step 1: Use HubSpot Get Contact on the new contact ID to pull the full record, including any associated company IDs. If the contact has an associated company, call HubSpot Get Company to fetch its properties, especially the website domain and name. If there is no associated company or the company has no domain, stop the run quietly: do not update anything, do not create a note, and do not post to Slack.

Step 2: With the company domain in hand, call JigsawStack AI Scrape Website against the company homepage to extract structured firmographic data: what the company does in one sentence, its industry, apparent size or team-page headcount, main product categories, and any notable customers listed on the site. Then call JigsawStack AI Web Search for the three most recent news mentions, press items, or funding announcements about the company by name.

Step 3: Merge the scrape and search results into a research summary. Call HubSpot Update Contact to fill in properties that are currently empty, like industry, description, and a lifecycle stage nudge where appropriate. Only overwrite fields that are blank; never clobber values a rep already set.

Step 4: Call HubSpot Create Note on the contact and attach the full research summary: the one-line company description, firmographics (industry, size, product categories, notable customers), the three recent news items with links, and the source URL that was scraped.

Step 5: Call Slack Send a Message to the sales channel. The message should lead with the company one-liner, then a single bullet for the single most recent news item, and end with a link back to the HubSpot contact. Keep the whole message under six lines so it stays scannable on mobile. Do not paste the full research summary into Slack; the HubSpot note is the long-form home.

Configuration the agent should ask me for at setup time: the Slack channel to post briefings into, and any HubSpot contact properties I want it to skip when filling in missing fields.

Additional information

What does this prompt do?
  • Watches HubSpot for brand-new contacts and starts a research run for each one automatically.
  • Pulls a one-sentence company description, industry, size, top products, and notable customers straight from their website.
  • Adds a research note to the HubSpot contact and fills in empty fields like industry and description without touching what your reps already set.
  • Posts a short, mobile-friendly briefing to your sales Slack channel with the company summary, the most recent news mention, and a link back to the HubSpot contact.
What do I need to use this?
  • A HubSpot account with permission to read contacts and companies, update contact properties, and create notes.
  • A JigsawStack API key for the AI website scraping and web search calls.
  • A Slack workspace and the channel where you want briefings to appear.
How can I customize it?
  • Change which Slack channel gets the briefing, or route different territories or lead sources to different channels.
  • Adjust which HubSpot properties get auto-filled and which ones are left blank for your rep to complete.
  • Tune what the briefing highlights, for example emphasize funding news over product launches, or add a headcount range to the one-liner.

Frequently asked questions

What happens if the new contact has no company or website?
The research step is skipped quietly, no Slack briefing goes out, and the contact is left untouched. Your rep still gets the raw contact in HubSpot as usual.
Will this overwrite information my reps have already filled in?
No. Only empty fields on the contact get updated. Anything a rep or another tool already set stays exactly as it is.
How does it decide which news to include?
It searches the web for the company by name and picks the most recent on-topic mentions, then surfaces just the top item in the Slack message. The full list goes into the HubSpot note so your rep can dig deeper.
Does this work with HubSpot Free?
Yes, as long as your plan allows updating contact properties and creating notes on contacts. The workflow only uses standard fields, not custom Enterprise-only ones.
Can I use Microsoft Teams or email instead of Slack?
Yes. Ask the workflow author to swap the Slack step for a Teams message or an email when you first set it up.
