Whenever a new subscriber activates on my Kit (formerly ConvertKit) list, enrich them and drop a heads-up in Slack so I know who just signed up and can reach out personally if it matters.

Trigger: webhook. Kit emits an outbound webhook the moment a subscriber activates. Subscribe to that event using Kit's Create Webhook operation so the workflow fires once per newly activated subscriber.

When the workflow fires, call Kit Get Subscriber to pull the subscriber's email, first name if present, and source or referrer. Then do light web research on the email's domain to figure out the company, industry, rough size, and any notable recent news. If a name is available, also look up the person's public role and background.

Next, call Kit List Tags to see the tag vocabulary I already have set up. Pick the single existing tag that fits best (for example founder, agency, student, or enterprise) based on the enrichment. Do not invent new tags. Apply the chosen tag by calling Tag Subscriber by ID.

Then call Update Subscriber to write a one-paragraph enrichment summary into a subscriber custom field, so I can see the context on their Kit profile later.

Finally, post to Slack using Send a Message. Keep the post short and skimmable: the subscriber's name and email, a company snapshot (name, industry, size, recent news), the tag the agent picked and why, and two concrete opening lines I could reply with if I want to reach out personally. If a piece of research is unknown, say so honestly rather than guessing.

Additional information

What does this prompt do?
  • Fires the second a new subscriber activates on your Kit list.
  • Researches the person and their company from the email domain so you know who just signed up.
  • Picks the best-fitting tag from your existing Kit vocabulary (founder, agency, student, enterprise, and so on) and applies it.
  • Stashes a short enrichment summary on the subscriber and posts a Slack heads-up with two natural conversation openers.
What do I need to use this?
  • A Kit (formerly ConvertKit) account with a few tags already set up
  • A Slack workspace and a channel or DM where the heads-up should land
  • A subscriber custom field in Kit where the enrichment summary can be saved
How can I customize it?
  • Which Slack channel or DM the heads-up gets posted to
  • The tag vocabulary the agent picks from, since it only chooses tags you have already created in Kit
  • What counts as 'worth reaching out to personally', so the agent flags the right ones

Frequently asked questions

Does this work with my existing Kit tags?
Yes. The agent reads whatever tags you already have and picks the closest fit. It will not invent new ones, so your taxonomy stays clean.
What if I do not know the subscriber's name yet?
Kit often only captures an email. The agent researches the domain to infer the company, industry, size, and any recent news, and falls back to a lighter profile when the person themselves cannot be found.
Where does the enrichment show up in Kit?
The agent writes a one-paragraph summary into a custom field on the subscriber, so you can see the context right on their Kit profile the next time you open it.
Will this run for every new subscriber?
It fires on activation, so anyone who confirms and joins your list. If you want to skip specific forms or sources, tell the agent which ones to ignore during setup.
Can the Slack heads-up be a DM instead of a channel post?
Yes. Point it at any channel, group DM, or your own DM and the agent will post there.

Never wonder who just joined your list.
