Build an agent workflow that runs on a cron schedule on the first Monday of every month at 7am and produces a competitor intelligence digest emailed to my leadership list. The output is a written narrative ranked by signal strength, not a stats dump, so an agent is the right fit.

Step 1. Read my competitor watch list from Google Sheets. Use Get Values on the configured spreadsheet and tab. The sheet has two columns: competitor name and website domain. Treat each row as one competitor to research.

Step 2. For each competitor, call Coresignal three times. Use Enrich Company by Website (Multi-source) with the website domain to pull the company record. Use Get Historical Headcount to retrieve the trailing 12-month workforce trend. Use Search Jobs (Filter) — Base to find that company's currently open postings, then count them and break them down by department or function. If a competitor cannot be found by domain, note the gap in the digest and keep going.

Step 3. Synthesize a single written digest. Rank competitors by headcount growth rate over the trailing 12 months. For each competitor write one short paragraph that names the functions they are hiring into most aggressively and flags notable inflections (sudden 20%+ growth, new geographic presence, a clear sales-team buildout, a sharp drop). Put a compact header table at the top with the headline metrics per competitor (current headcount, 12-month growth %, total open roles, top hiring function). End the digest with two or three so-what implications for our team.

Step 4. Deliver the digest via Gmail. Use Create a Draft with the configured recipient list, a clear subject line that includes the month, and the digest as the body, then Send a Draft to deliver it. Keep the formatting scannable: a header table plus one paragraph per competitor, not a wall of stats.

Step 5. Log the headline metrics. Use Google Sheets Append Values to append one row per competitor to a History tab in the same spreadsheet, with the run date, competitor name, current headcount, 12-month growth %, total open roles, and top hiring function. This makes month-over-month deltas inspectable without rerunning the agent.

Configurable inputs the user should be able to edit: the source spreadsheet and tab, the History tab name, the Gmail recipient list, the subject line template, and the inflection thresholds (for example the growth % that triggers a callout). Default the inflection threshold to 20%.

Additional information

What does this prompt do?
  • Pulls your competitor list from a Google Sheet so the watch list stays under your control.
  • Looks up each competitor in Coresignal for company details, a 12-month headcount trend, and currently open job postings broken down by department.
  • Writes a leadership-ready digest that ranks competitors by growth, calls out aggressive hiring areas, and flags notable inflections like sudden team buildouts or new geos.
  • Emails the digest to your leadership list and logs the month's headline metrics back to a History tab so month-over-month deltas are easy to inspect.
What do I need to use this?
  • A Coresignal account with an API key on a plan that includes company and jobs data.
  • A Google account connected for Sheets, with a sheet that lists each competitor's name and website domain.
  • A Gmail account that will draft and send the digest.
  • A short list of leadership recipients who should receive the monthly email.
How can I customize it?
  • Change the cadence to weekly or quarterly if your market moves faster or slower than monthly.
  • Update the recipient list, subject line, or tone of the digest to match how your leadership team likes to read briefings.
  • Tweak the inflection thresholds, like flagging anything above 20 percent growth or sales-team buildouts over a certain size.
  • Add or remove competitors at any time by editing the source Google Sheet, no workflow changes required.

Frequently asked questions

Where does the competitor data come from?
Coresignal provides the company records, historical headcount trend, and currently open job postings. The watch list itself comes from your Google Sheet, so you decide who is tracked.
How often will the digest land in my inbox?
By default it runs on the first Monday of each month at 7am. You can change the schedule to weekly, biweekly, or quarterly when you set up the workflow.
Can I change who receives the email?
Yes. The recipient list is configurable, and you can update it at any time without rebuilding the workflow.
What happens if Coresignal cannot find a competitor by domain?
The digest notes the gap for that competitor and keeps going, so one bad row never blocks the rest of the report.
How do I see trends over time?
Each run appends headline metrics for every competitor to a History tab in the same Google Sheet, which makes month-over-month deltas easy to inspect or chart.
