Turn every Gong call into Salesloft cadence moves and tasks
After each recorded call, an agent files a recap on the right Salesloft contact, adjusts their cadence, and hands the rep a specific next step.
Whenever a new call is recorded in Gong, turn it into real follow-up work inside Salesloft. Use a poll trigger on Gong for new calls so this runs on its own after every recorded conversation.
For each new call, pull the transcript with the Gong Get Call Transcripts operation, and use Gong List Calls when you need surrounding metadata such as the call title, date, duration, and participant list. Identify the external participants, meaning the people who are not on our own team, and look each one up in Salesloft with List People filtered by email address. If no external participant resolves to a Salesloft person, treat the call as internal and stop without writing anything.
For the matched Salesloft person, write a structured recap with Create Note associated with that person. The note should cover four things: what was discussed, the next step the prospect or the rep actually stated, any objections raised, and any competitor named. Base all of it on the transcript, and say plainly when something was not mentioned rather than inventing it.
Then act on what the transcript says instead of only logging it. If a competitor was named, enroll the person into our competitive displacement cadence with Add Person to Cadence. Use List Cadences to resolve that cadence by name so the workflow does not depend on a hardcoded id, and call out the competitor in the recap so the rep understands why the cadence changed.
If the prospect signalled that this is not the right time, for example "not now, check back next quarter", take them off their current outreach instead. Salesloft has no direct pause action, so look up their enrollment with List Cadence Memberships, remove them with Remove Person from Cadence using the membership id returned by that lookup, and then create a dated revisit task with Create Task set for the start of the period they named.
Every call, including ones with no competitor and no timing objection, should also produce a follow-up task for the owning rep with Create Task, carrying a specific suggested next action drawn from the conversation rather than a generic reminder. Finally, post a short summary to the sales channel in Slack with Send a Message: who the call was with, the one line takeaway, the stated next step, and which Salesloft actions were taken.
Keep the judgement conservative. Only enroll someone in the competitive cadence when a competitor was genuinely discussed as an alternative we are being weighed against, not when a name came up in passing. Only remove a cadence membership when the prospect clearly asked to be contacted later. If an email address matches more than one Salesloft person, use the record with the most recent activity, and if the transcript is empty or still processing, skip the call rather than writing an empty recap.
What does this prompt do?
- Watches Gong for newly recorded calls and reads the transcript for you
- Matches the customer on the call to their record in Salesloft by email address, and skips internal calls where nobody matches
- Files a structured recap on that contact covering what was discussed, the agreed next step, objections raised, and any competitor named
- Acts on what it found: enrolls competitor mentions into your competitive cadence, pulls people off outreach when they ask to be contacted next quarter, creates the rep's follow-up task, and posts a short summary to your sales channel
What do I need to use this?
- A Gong account with call recording enabled and permission to read call transcripts
- A Salesloft account where your prospects already exist as people, with the cadences you want to use set up in advance
- A Slack workspace and the channel where your sales team wants call summaries posted
- Email addresses that line up between the people on the call and their Salesloft records, since that is how the match is made
How can I customize it?
- Choose which cadence counts as your competitive displacement cadence, and list the competitor names worth reacting to
- Change how far out the revisit task is dated when someone asks you to check back later
- Pick the Slack channel, or route summaries to different channels by team, and adjust how much detail the recap note carries
