Every morning at 8am, check my Eventbrite organization for events that have just gone live and turn each one into a ready to publish promotion on LinkedIn and in Slack. Run this on a daily schedule.

Start by calling List Events by Organization for my Eventbrite organization and filter to events with a live status. Use the expand query parameter (for example expand=venue,ticket_classes) so related objects come back inline instead of requiring a separate call for every event. Eventbrite allows 1,000 requests per hour per token, so prefer expansion over fanning out per event. The older event search endpoint was deprecated in February 2020, so listing by organization is the correct way to discover events.

Keep a record of every Eventbrite event ID that has already been promoted, and skip any event that appears in that record so nothing is posted twice. Also skip events that are still drafts, events that are sold out, and events that have already ended. Only events that are newly live and still selling tickets should be promoted.

For each event that passes those filters, gather the specifics so the copy can name real details. Call Retrieve Event for the full event record, Get Event HTML Description for the long form description, and List Ticket Classes for the ticket line up. From those, pull the real start date and time, whether the event is online or in person, the venue name and city when there is one, and the lowest available ticket price. Eventbrite returns currency amounts as an object with currency, value and display fields where value is in minor units, so use the display string for the tickets from line rather than formatting cents by hand. Eventbrite endpoint paths also need trailing slashes, otherwise the request gets a 301 redirect.

Write a short LinkedIn post for each event in our voice. Keep it to roughly 1300 characters. It must name the real date, say whether the event is online or name the venue, and mention the lowest ticket price. Close with a clear call to action pointing at the public event page on Eventbrite, and include three to five relevant hashtags. Do not invent details that are not in the event record, and do not use em dashes.

Publish the post with the LinkedIn Create Post action. Let me nominate whether the post is authored by my personal profile or by our company page, and post as whichever I choose.

After the post is published, send the same copy plus the public event link to our marketing channel with the Slack Send a Message action, so the team has a record of what went out and can repurpose it for other channels. Include the event name and a link to the published LinkedIn post in that message.

Once an event has been promoted, add its event ID to the promoted record so later runs skip it. If no new events went live since the last run, do nothing and do not post an empty update.

What does this prompt do?

  • Checks your Eventbrite organization each morning for events that have just gone live, skipping drafts, sold out events, and anything already promoted
  • Pulls the real specifics for each new event: the date and time, whether it is online or in person, the venue, and the lowest ticket price
  • Writes a short post in your brand voice with three to five relevant hashtags and a clear call to action pointing at the ticket page, then publishes it to LinkedIn
  • Sends the same copy and the public event link to your marketing channel in Slack so the team has a record and can reuse it elsewhere

What do I need to use this?

  • An Eventbrite account with an organization that publishes events
  • A LinkedIn account, plus admin access to your company page if you want posts to come from the page rather than a person
  • A Slack workspace with a marketing channel your team can see
  • A short description of your brand voice so the posts sound like you wrote them

How can I customize it?

  • Change the time of the daily check, or run it more than once a day if you publish events frequently
  • Choose whether posts go out from your personal LinkedIn profile or your company page
  • Adjust the post length, the number of hashtags, and the wording of the call to action
  • Point the recap at a different Slack channel, or add filters so only certain event types get promoted

FAQs

Will it promote the same event twice?
No. It keeps a record of every event it has already promoted and skips those on later runs, so an event only ever gets one announcement.
Does it promote draft events?
No. It only picks up events that are live and still selling tickets. Drafts, sold out events, and events that have already finished are skipped.
Can it post from my company page instead of my personal profile?
Yes. You nominate which one should be the author when you set it up. Posting from a company page requires admin access to that page.
Where does the ticket price in the post come from?
It reads the ticket types on the event and quotes the lowest one, shown exactly the way Eventbrite displays it, so the currency and formatting always match your listing.
What happens on a day when nothing new went live?
Nothing. It stays quiet rather than posting an empty update, so your LinkedIn feed and Slack channel only get activity when there is a real event to announce.
