Every weekday at 9am, roll out a welcome pack for anyone who joined the company on Gusto in the last 24 hours.

Step 1. Pull yesterday's new hires from Gusto. Use gusto List Employees, filtered so onboarding_status matches new hires and hire_date equals yesterday's date (in the company's timezone). If Gusto returns no employees, exit quietly — do not post to Slack and do not create any Notion pages. Also call gusto List Departments once so the agent has the current department list (names and UUIDs) available for context.

Step 2. For each new hire, post a short intro to the #welcome channel in Slack using slackbot Send a Message. The message should include the person's full name, job title, department name, and start date, and read like a warm human welcome rather than a data dump. Keep it to two or three lines.

Step 3. For each new hire, create a page in Notion using Notion Create a Page. The parent should be the workspace page titled 'New Hire Onboarding'. The page title should be the new hire's name plus their start date. The body should be a starter checklist covering payroll paperwork, equipment setup, buddy assignment, and first-week meetings — but the exact wording of each item should be tailored to the person's department. Engineering hires should see items framed around dev environment setup, on-call orientation, and codebase walkthroughs; sales hires should see CRM access, territory briefing, and shadowing calls; operations hires should see systems access, process documentation, and stakeholder intros. Use the department name and job title from Gusto to decide which flavor of checklist to write. Do not use a single one-size template.

Notes: Gusto is not a poll provider, so this workflow runs on a cron each weekday morning and dedupes naturally by only looking at hire_date = yesterday. Use the onboarding_status values Gusto actually returns rather than inventing labels. Employees and departments are identified by UUIDs in Gusto responses.
