New task: describe the work and General Input routes it

Starting a conversation used to mean choosing a specialist first. Now you start with the work. New task, in the sidebar, the Home menu, and the specialist list, opens the full chat composer. When you send, General Input ranks the specialists you can access and asks where the task should go: pick the recommended specialist, another one, or a new specialist that's created, named, and described from your message and starts on the task right away. The same flow ships on iPhone.

How it works

  • Ranking. A decision model (Jev, from TypeSafe) classifies your message against up to 40 of your most recently active specialists plus a "needs a new specialist" option, weighting each specialist's name as the main signal of its scope.
  • Nothing hidden. Most tasks get one featured pick, but every specialist with a reasonable chance is listed too, and Browse all specialists is always there.
  • Never blocking. Ranking has a 2.5-second budget; if it's slow or unavailable, you see your recent specialists instead.
  • Onboarding. New workspaces end onboarding on the same composer: "What do you want to tackle first?"

Also shipped

  • Specialists can read your other conversations when it helps.
  • Redesigned specialist pages, and a sidebar that shows only the specialists worth a glance.
