Deleted and replaced files are kept for 30 days

Deleting a file by mistake no longer means it is gone. When a member deletes or replaces a file on a specialist's shelf, or a file in a store, General Input now keeps the earlier version for 30 days before removing it for good. Deleting a whole store keeps its files the same way, and so does deleting a chat: the files you attached and the ones it sent you. If something went missing, ask us and we can put it back where it was or send you a link to download it.

How it works

  • 30 days, then gone. When the window ends, a scheduled cleanup removes the kept copy. Kept copies don't count toward a store's 100 GB limit.
  • Erasure doesn't wait. Deleting your account, or a workspace being permanently deleted, erases kept copies at once instead of after 30 days.
  • Memory history matches. Memory pages keep 30 days of earlier versions, counted from when each one was replaced.
  • Store upload links need their headers. A presign-upload answer is { url, method, headers }, and the PUT has to send those headers exactly. Without them it is refused with 403. A 412 means another upload to the same file landed first, so ask for a new link and send again. This is what stops an upload from replacing a version nobody kept. See developers for the storage API.
