Account growth watchlist board for headcount expansion signals
See which accounts in your HubSpot pipeline are actually adding people, which departments are growing, and stamp the numbers back into the CRM.
Build me an account growth watchlist board my revenue team opens to see which of our accounts are actually growing headcount and where. Hiring is the signal we trust most: when a company opens roles in one department, that is where budget just got approved. I want one screen that answers that for the accounts I own, instead of a scheduled alert.
The main view is a table of the companies on my watchlist. Seed it from my CRM with HubSpot Search Companies, filtered to the accounts I own. Use HubSpot List Owners to resolve the signed-in person to a HubSpot owner id, and store that choice per user the first time they open the app so they do not have to pick again. Each row shows the company name and domain, current headcount, headcount at the start of the window, absolute change, percentage growth, the department that grew fastest, and a last refreshed timestamp. Sort the board by fastest percentage growth by default, with a window selector for 3, 6, or 12 months that re-ranks the whole table.
Headcount trend and department breakdown come from CompanyEnrich Get Company Workforce, and firmographics such as industry, employee range, revenue range, location, and founded year come from CompanyEnrich Enrich Company by Domain. Show the firmographics as supporting columns or a compact summary line on each row so a rep can size the account without leaving the board.
Let me add any company to the watchlist with a typeahead: I type a partial name or domain and the field suggests matches using CompanyEnrich Autocomplete Companies. Picking a suggestion adds the company to the watchlist even if it is not in HubSpot yet, and the row should make clear whether it is linked to a CRM record or watchlist-only. Let me remove a company from the watchlist too.
Clicking a row opens an account detail view with the headcount trend charted over the selected window and a department level breakdown broken out for engineering, sales, marketing, and RevOps, each with its own growth rate over the window so I can see which function is expanding fastest. Show the full firmographic profile alongside it. On this screen I can write a short note or a verdict on the account, and that text has to persist in the app across sessions along with who wrote it and when.
From the row or the detail view I want to stamp the current headcount and growth rate back onto the HubSpot company record with HubSpot Update Company, so the number lives in the CRM for reporting. Let me configure once which company properties receive the headcount, the growth rate, and the date it was last checked, and show me exactly what is about to be written before it saves. Only offer write-back on rows that are linked to a real HubSpot company.
Cost awareness matters and should shape the design. Workforce data costs meaningfully more credits per company than a plain enrichment, so nothing refreshes automatically on page load. The board always renders from cached results with a visible last refreshed timestamp per account, and refreshing is an explicit action: a refresh button on a single account, plus multi-select with a refresh selected action for a batch. Warn before a batch refresh by telling me how many accounts are about to be refreshed. Flag stale rows visually once the cached data passes an age I can set. Do not build a credit balance meter anywhere in the app, since there is no reliable way to read the balance.
Finally, visibility: each rep sees only their own accounts by default, with a toggle for the full team view that shows every watched account plus an owner column. Notes and verdicts stay visible to everyone in the team view so the account history is shared, but the default landing state is always my own book.
What does this prompt do?
- One board listing the accounts you follow from your CRM, ranked by fastest headcount growth over a window you pick of 3, 6, or 12 months
- Click any account to see the growth split by department, so you can tell whether engineering, sales, marketing, or RevOps is where the budget is moving
- Add any company to the watchlist by typing part of its name or website, and leave a short note or verdict that stays on the account
- Push the latest headcount and growth rate back onto the CRM company record in one click, so the number shows up in your reporting
What do I need to use this?
- A HubSpot account with companies in your pipeline, and permission to edit company records
- A CompanyEnrich account for headcount history and company details
- The names or websites of any extra accounts you want to watch
- One or two spare company fields in HubSpot to hold the headcount and growth numbers
How can I customize it?
- Change the growth windows on offer, or which one the board opens on by default
- Choose which departments get their own chart, for example swapping RevOps for customer success or finance
- Pick which CRM fields the headcount and growth rate get written into
- Set whether the board opens on your own accounts or the whole team's by default
