Every weekday at 8am in my local timezone, run an agent that scans PitchBook for new financing rounds, M&A, and IPOs from the last 24 hours that match my fund's investment thesis, then ranks the strongest matches and posts the top ten as a single formatted digest to a designated Slack channel. The trigger is cron, on weekdays only.

Filter PitchBook deals to: target sectors I supply at install time (for example climate, fintech, infrastructure software), stages from Series A through Series C, target geographies I supply (for example North America and EU), and deal size between a floor and ceiling I supply, defaulting to $5M minimum and $100M maximum. Only include deals announced or updated in the trailing 24 hours.

For each candidate deal, use the PitchBook Search Deals operation to find matches, then use Get Deal to pull full detail (round type, size, announce date, lead investor, co-investors, valuation if available). For the company behind each deal, call Get Company Details to enrich sector, headquarters, short description, and any prior round context. Write a single 'Why this matters' line per deal that explains the fit to my thesis in plain language.

Rank the candidates by fit to my thesis using the supplied filters as hard gates and a soft score for lead investor quality, sector signal, and how cleanly the company maps to my target categories. Keep the top ten. If fewer than ten match, post whatever does match. If zero match, post a short 'nothing material in the last 24 hours' note in Slack so the team knows the run completed.

Deliver the digest with the Slack Bot Send a Message operation as a single post to the channel chosen at install time. Format it so a VC associate would actually open it every morning: a header with today's date and a one-line count of deals scanned vs deals surfaced, then each deal as a bold company name linked to its PitchBook entity page, followed by round type and size, lead and co-investors, sector and headquarters, and the 'Why this matters' one-liner. Use Slack markdown, keep it scannable, no walls of text.

At install time, collect from the user: their list of target sectors, their stage range (default Series A through Series C), their target geographies, their deal size floor and ceiling, the timezone for the 8am cron, and the Slack channel ID or name where the digest should post. Validate that each input is present before the first run.

Integrations: PitchBook (Search Deals, Get Deal, Get Company Details) and Slack Bot (Send a Message).

Frequently asked questions

How is this different from PitchBook's built-in email alerts?
PitchBook alerts are a firehose sorted by recency. This digest ranks deals by how well each one fits your specific thesis and delivers a short, curated top ten right in Slack where your team already works.
What happens when no new deals match my thesis on a given day?
The agent posts a brief note in Slack so you know the run finished and there was nothing material to surface. You can also choose to skip posting on quiet days.
Can I run this more than once a day, or only on certain weekdays?
Yes. You can set any schedule, hourly, twice a day, only on Mondays, or just before your weekly partner meeting.
Do I need a paid PitchBook plan?
You need a PitchBook API contract, which is separate from a standard PitchBook Platform subscription. Your PitchBook account manager can set that up.
How does the agent rank deals by fit to my thesis?
The agent uses your sector, stage, geography, and deal size filters as hard gates, then scores each remaining deal on signal quality, lead investor strength, and how cleanly it maps to the categories you described.
