Build me a deal screening board my investment team opens every morning to triage new funding activity, so we stop scrolling Crunchbase saved searches.

The main view is an Inbox tab listing funding rounds announced in the last 7 to 30 days that match our thesis filters: round type, sector categories, country, and a round size floor. Fetch them with Crunchbase Search Funding Rounds, with columns for company, round type, amount raised, lead investor, total raised to date, and headcount. Crunchbase search supports AND logic only across predicates, uses keyset pagination with after_id at a default page size of 50, and is capped at 200 requests per minute, so page through results as I scroll or ask for more rather than pulling everything on load.

Clicking a row opens a detail panel for that company. Build it from Crunchbase Lookup Organization for the company profile, Get Entity Card for founders, prior funding rounds, and current investors, and Search Investments for the current round so I can see who led versus who merely followed.

Every company I triage is written to an Airtable deal flow table as Pass, Watch, or Meet, along with my note, the date, and my name. Use Airtable Create Records when the company is not yet in the table and Update Record when an existing company's status changes. Store the funding round identifier and its announced date on the record as well, since those drive the resurfacing rule. Airtable accepts at most 10 records per create or update call and limits each base to 5 requests per second, so batch writes accordingly.

On load the board reads that table with Airtable List Records, so anything already triaged drops out of the Inbox and appears under a Reviewed tab instead, showing the status, who triaged it, their note, and the date. Airtable list responses are offset paginated, so keep following the offset until the table is fully read.

Never show a company twice once it has been passed on, unless it raises a newer round. Compare the announced date of each incoming round against the round stored on that company's Airtable record: if the incoming round is more recent, return the company to the Inbox flagged as a re-raise with the previous decision and note visible, and otherwise keep it hidden.

A Share button in the header posts the day's Meet and Watch shortlist into our partner Slack channel using Slack Bot Send a Message, with the company, the round, and one line of reasoning per company. Let me preview and edit the message before it goes out.

Keep saved thesis presets switchable from the header, for example "seed and Series A, B2B software, US and UK, over 2 million dollars", and let me add, rename, and edit presets. Bake in per-user behavior so each triager sees who claimed a company and what they wrote, and so my own pending decisions read as distinct from my partners'.

What does this prompt do?

  • Lists funding rounds announced in the last 7 to 30 days that match your thesis filters, with company, round type, amount raised, lead investor, total raised to date and headcount in one table
  • Opens a full company profile when you click a row, showing founders, prior rounds, current investors and who led the round versus who followed
  • Records every call as Pass, Watch or Meet with your note and the date in your deal flow table, so triaged companies drop out of the inbox and move to a Reviewed tab
  • Posts the day's Meet and Watch shortlist to your partner channel with the company, the round and one line of reasoning each
  • Keeps a company you passed on out of sight for good, unless it raises a newer round and earns a second look

What do I need to use this?

  • A Crunchbase account on a plan that includes data access, since the board reads funding round and company detail
  • An Airtable base with a deal flow table your team can write to
  • A Slack workspace and a partner channel for the daily shortlist
  • Your thesis in mind: the stages, sectors, countries and minimum round size you actually invest in

How can I customize it?

  • Change the lookback window anywhere from 7 to 30 days, or raise and lower the minimum round size
  • Save your own thesis presets for stage, sector and country, then switch between them from the header
  • Pick which Slack channel gets the shortlist and whether Watch companies are included alongside Meet
  • Adjust the columns on the main table, for example swapping headcount for total raised to date

FAQs

Do I need a paid Crunchbase plan?
Yes. The board reads funding round and company detail, which comes with Crunchbase's Enterprise or Applications plans. A basic Crunchbase login on its own will not return the round level data the board needs.
Will a company I passed on keep showing up every morning?
No. Once you mark a company Pass it stays out of your inbox. It only comes back if it raises a newer round than the one you passed on, so you get a second look when something genuinely changes rather than seeing the same names on repeat.
Can our whole partnership use the same board?
Yes. Every decision is saved with the name of whoever made it, so each triager can see who already claimed a company and read the note they left before adding their own view.
Does this replace the deal flow base we already keep in Airtable?
No, it works on top of it. The board reads your existing table when it loads and writes decisions straight back to it, so your base stays the single source of truth and nothing gets stranded inside the app.
What happens to our triage history if we change Crunchbase plans?
Crunchbase is only the source of the funding data. Every status, note and date your team records lives in your own Airtable base, so your history stays with you regardless of what happens to the subscription.
