Research new HubSpot companies and rate their ICP fit
When a new company lands in HubSpot, we read their website, summarize who they are, rate whether they fit your ICP, and tip off sales.
When HubSpot fires its new-company webhook, kick off automatic website research so sales walks into the first touch already briefed. Read the website or domain property off the new company record. If that property is blank or missing, stop right there and do nothing else: no scraping, no field updates, no note, and no Slack message. Only continue when there is a real domain to work with.
Take the company's domain and use Browserless to learn what they do. Run Smart Scrape on the homepage to capture the main positioning and headline copy. Then run Scrape Elements on the about and pricing pages (try common paths like /about, /about-us, /company, /pricing, and /plans) to pull the company story, team and size signals, and pricing tiers. Browserless cascades through HTTP, proxy, and a full browser and bypasses bot detection, so marketing sites that block simple fetchers still return content. If a page is missing or errors, skip it and work with whatever you were able to read.
From the scraped pages, work out three things: what the company does in one or two sentences, their size signals (headcount hints, number of offices or locations, funding or customer-logo cues, enterprise versus SMB positioning), and their industry. Then rate ICP fit as high, medium, or low and give a single one-line reason for the rating.
Write the findings back to HubSpot. Use Update Company to set the industry property (map to one of HubSpot's standard industry values) and to write a concise description property from your firmographic summary. Then use Create Note, associated with that same company record, to attach the full research: the firmographic summary, the size signals, the industry read, and the ICP fit rating with its reason, plus which pages you scraped. Keep the note tight and skimmable with short labeled lines or a few bullets, not walls of text, and cap it at roughly 200 words.
Finally, post a heads-up in the sales Slack channel using the Slack bot's Send a Message action. Keep it to a few lines: the company name, a one-line summary of what they do, the ICP fit rating (high, medium, or low) with its reason, and a link to the HubSpot company record so a rep can open it in one click.
Additional information
What does this prompt do?
- Kicks in the moment a new company is created in HubSpot, so the record gets enriched before anyone reaches out.
- Reads the company's homepage, about page, and pricing page to learn what they do, how big they are, and their industry.
- Fills in the company's industry and description, then attaches a short, skimmable research note to the record.
- Rates how well the company fits your ideal customer profile and posts a heads-up in your sales channel.
What do I need to use this?
- A HubSpot account with the companies you want enriched.
- A Browserless account for reading company websites (it gets past sites that block basic scrapers).
- A Slack workspace with a channel where sales wants heads-up messages.
How can I customize it?
- Pick which Slack channel gets the heads-up.
- Adjust which pages get read (about, pricing, careers, customers) and how the industry and description fields get written.
- Change how ICP fit is judged so high, medium, and low match your ideal customer.
