See which target accounts just started advertising on LinkedIn
Open one board each Monday to see which of your target accounts are running LinkedIn ads right now, and which only switched them on this week.
Build me an app my account executives open at the start of each week that answers one question: which of my target accounts are spending money on LinkedIn right now. A company that just turned on advertising has budget approved and a live go to market motion, and that is a timing signal nobody on my team can see today.
The main page is a board of my target accounts. Pull the account list from HubSpot with Search Companies, and let me filter it to a pipeline stage or an account owner before the board loads. For each company, check LinkedIn's public transparency catalog with Search Ad Library and show as columns: how many ads are live right now, the themes they are pitching, the countries the ads are running in, and the audience they are targeting. Show the account owner on every row, resolving the owner id to a real person's name with List Owners.
Store every check in General Input Database, one row per company per check, recording the date, the live ad count, and the ad identifiers seen. The board's default sort is the thing that actually matters: accounts that started advertising since last week come first, ahead of accounts that always advertise. Work that out by comparing this week's check against the most recent earlier check for the same company, and flag an account as newly advertising when it has live ads now and had none, or far fewer, the last time it was checked. Handle the first run carefully. On the very first check there is no history to compare against, so no account should be flagged as newly advertising. Treat that run as establishing the baseline and say so on the board, so week one does not light up every single row and train my reps to ignore the flag.
Clicking an account opens a detail page showing every live ad they are running, each with its creative text, the countries it runs in, and its targeting, plus the roles they are currently hiring for, fetched with Search Job Library. Ads and headcount together tell me where an account is investing. Keep the hiring list as a secondary panel on the detail page only. It is never the board's primary sort.
Give every account a Build the play button that starts a background agent. The agent reads that account's live ads and open roles, then writes a short point of view covering what they are pushing to the market, where my product counter positions against that message, and a first line opener a rep can actually send. It files the finished brief as a note on the company in HubSpot with Create Note, and opens a follow up task for that account's owner with Create Task. Show the run's progress in the app, and keep the finished brief on the account detail page so the board can show at a glance which accounts already have a play written and which do not.
Every rep should be able to filter the board down to just their own accounts in one click, based on the HubSpot owner on each company.
A few practical things to build in. The LinkedIn Ad Library is global and public, so every connected member sees the same ad data regardless of which account they are logged in with, and no access to a prospect's own ad account is ever needed. The catalog only covers ads served in roughly the last year, and an advertiser drops out of it once their ads stop running, which is itself a signal worth showing. Matching a HubSpot company to a LinkedIn advertiser is fuzzy, so match on company name and website, show which advertiser each row matched to, and let me correct or clear a bad match so the correction sticks on future checks. Declare the database as a credential slot rather than hardcoding a database id, and keep the stored history lean: one row per company per check is enough to answer the week over week question.
What does this prompt do?
- Pulls your target account list from HubSpot, filtered to a pipeline stage or an account owner, and lays every company out on one board with its owner shown on each row.
- Checks LinkedIn's public ad catalog for each account and shows how many ads are live, the themes they are pitching, the countries they are running in, and the audience they are targeting.
- Remembers what it saw on previous weeks, so the board can lead with accounts that just switched advertising on instead of the ones that always advertise.
- Opens any account to see every live ad plus the roles they are hiring, with a Build the play button that has an assistant write a point of view and file it on the company record with a follow up task for the owner.
What do I need to use this?
- A HubSpot account with your target companies in it, and an owner assigned to each one
- A LinkedIn login connected for ad library access, which is read only and covers public data
- Somewhere for the app to keep week over week history, which it sets up for you on first run
- Nothing from your prospects: the ad data is the public transparency catalog, not their ad account
How can I customize it?
- Change which accounts reach the board: filter by pipeline stage, by account owner, or by your target account list
- Change what counts as newly advertising: the default compares against last week, but you can widen the window to two or four weeks
- Change what the assistant writes: tune the brief to your own counter positioning, or open the follow up task for someone other than the account owner
