Turn competitor followers into a ranked account list
Pull your competitors' LinkedIn followers, group them by employer, and work the companies sending the most people, with CRM matches flagged before you spend a credit.
Build me an internal app that turns competitor follower exports into a ranked list of accounts my sales team can work through. This is a board I open repeatedly and grind down over weeks, not a one time report.
Start with a setup screen where I add the LinkedIn company page URLs of three to five competitors and give each a label. A Pull followers button submits a Boomerang Submit Competitor Followers Export for each URL, stores the returned request id, and then polls Boomerang Get Request Status until the status changes to Completed. On completion, download the signed output CSV from the returned output URL, parse it, and store the follower rows tagged with the competitor they came from. Show each pull as a job row with its status, row count, and credits used, and keep polling in the background so I can leave the page and come back later. If a job comes back with an Issue status, surface the error on that job row instead of retrying forever.
The main view is a company board. Group every follower by their current employer and rank the companies by how many of their people follow a competitor, because several followers from one company is an organizational interest signal rather than one person's curiosity. That follower count per company is the default sort and it should stay the default. Each company card shows the company name, the follower count, which competitors those people follow, its CRM status, and the titles of the top few followers. Expanding a card lists the people underneath, filterable by job title keyword and by seniority so I can quickly see who the decision makers are.
Before anything costs credits, check every row against HubSpot. Use HubSpot Search Companies to match each grouped company by name and domain, and HubSpot Search Contacts to match individual followers by name and company. Show the result visibly on the card and on each person row: known account, known contact, or new. This dedupe pass always runs before any enrichment, and rows that already exist in HubSpot are excluded from enrichment selections by default so I never spend credits re-finding contacts I already own.
From a selected set of people, a Find emails button submits a Boomerang Submit Email Finder Enrichment over just those selected rows as the CSV input, polls Boomerang Get Request Status until it completes, and merges the returned email addresses back onto the stored people rows. Before I confirm, tell me how many rows I am about to enrich and roughly what that will cost.
A Push to HubSpot button on a selected set runs HubSpot Batch Upsert Contacts in batches of up to one hundred, matched on email so existing people are updated rather than duplicated, and runs HubSpot Create Company for any account the earlier search showed does not exist yet, associating the pushed contacts to it. Write the competitor being followed and the follower count for that company onto the records so the signal survives inside the CRM. After the push, update the CRM status shown on the card.
Each company card also has a Research this account button that kicks off a background agent. The agent enriches the top follower profiles for that company using Boomerang Enrich Single Profile, checks HubSpot Search Deals for prior or open opportunities tied to that company, and writes a short account brief covering who follows the competitor and at what seniority, what the company appears to be doing, whether we have any deal history with them, and a suggested angle for reaching out. The brief is written back into the app and saved on the company card with the date it was generated, so it is there next time I open the board. Show a working state on the card while the agent runs.
Persist follower rows, company groupings, HubSpot match state, found emails, push history, and account briefs so the board keeps its state between sessions, and make a re-pull refresh follower counts without wiping the briefs already written. Everyone on the team who opens the app sees the same board and the same briefs.
What does this prompt do?
- Add three to five competitors' LinkedIn company pages and pull their follower lists in one go, with the export running in the background while you do other things.
- Groups every follower by their current employer and ranks companies by how many of their people follow a competitor, so accounts showing real organizational interest rise to the top instead of getting lost in a flat list.
- Checks each person and company against your CRM first, flags the ones you already own, and keeps them out of paid lookups by default.
- Find work emails for the people you pick, push them into your CRM as contacts and new company records, and hit Research on any account to have an assistant write a short brief that stays saved on the card.
What do I need to use this?
- A Boomerang account with credits available for follower exports and email lookups
- A HubSpot login with permission to view and create contacts, companies, and deals
- The LinkedIn company page links for the competitors you want to study, usually three to five
How can I customize it?
- Change which job titles and seniority levels the people list filters to by default, so the board opens on your decision makers
- Set how many followers from one company it takes before an account gets called out as a strong signal
- Decide how many top followers the account brief reads before it writes, and what the brief should cover
