Every Monday at 8am, run a competitor review intelligence sweep for our product team and write the findings to Notion and Slack.

Start by reading a Notion database called "Competitor watchlist" (use Query a Database) that lists the competitor product names we track. For every competitor in that list, do the following in order:

1. Use Real-Time Product Search "Search Products" to find the matching Google Shopping listing and resolve its product_id. Pick the result that best matches the competitor product name on the watchlist.

2. Use Real-Time Product Search "Get Product Reviews" to pull recent customer reviews for that product_id, sorted newest first and biased toward 1, 2, and 3 star ratings so we surface the real complaints. Drop any review older than 90 days. If fewer than 10 qualifying reviews come back for a competitor, skip that competitor entirely so we don't draw conclusions from noise.

3. For each competitor that clears the threshold, cluster the negative reviews into 3 to 6 themes covering: what customers actually hate about the product, missing features they keep asking for, and recurring quality or support issues. For each theme, quote 2 to 3 representative one-liner snippets straight from the reviews so PMs can hear the real voice. Also pull out any standout praise that appears inside the negative-review stream (the "would be great except for X" pattern), so the team sees what the competitor is getting right.

4. Append a new dated insights entry for that competitor to a second Notion database called "Competitor review insights". Use Notion "Create a Page" to add a child page in that database with the competitor name and today's date in the title (e.g. "Acme Pro headphones – 2026-06-29"), and set whatever schema properties make sense (competitor, week_of, review_count_analyzed). Then use Notion "Append Block Children" to fill the page body with clearly labeled sections: Top Complaints (themes with quotes), Feature Requests, Recurring Quality Issues, and Standout Praise.

After all competitors are processed, post a single Slack message via "Send a Message" to the #product channel: a one-paragraph executive summary across every competitor covered this week (the strongest cross-competitor patterns, the loudest unmet need, anything surprising) followed by a link to the Notion "Competitor review insights" database so PMs can open each competitor's page and mine it for backlog ideas.

If every competitor on the watchlist falls below the 10-review threshold, skip the Notion writes and just post "No qualifying competitor reviews this week" to the product Slack channel so the team knows the run happened.

Additional information

What does this prompt do?
  • Pulls the freshest customer reviews of every competitor on your Notion watchlist.
  • Clusters the negative reviews into themes like missing features, quality issues, and support frustrations, with real customer quotes.
  • Drops a dated insights page in your Notion competitor database with top complaints, feature requests, and standout praise.
  • Posts a one-paragraph executive summary to your product Slack so PMs can mine it for backlog ideas.
What do I need to use this?
  • A Notion workspace with a database that lists the competitor product names you want to track.
  • A second Notion database where the weekly insights pages should land (one entry per competitor, per week).
  • A Slack workspace and the product channel where the executive summary should be posted.
  • A Real-Time Product Search account so the workflow can pull Google Shopping listings and customer reviews.
How can I customize it?
  • Change the cadence (run twice a week, biweekly, or first Monday of the month) or swap the Slack channel.
  • Adjust the recency window (default is reviews from the last 90 days) and the minimum review count per competitor (default 10).
  • Tell the agent which themes to look for, like pricing complaints, packaging, onboarding, or support quality, so the clusters match how your team thinks.

Frequently asked questions

Where do the reviews come from?
Google Shopping listings for each competitor product, pulled live each Monday via Real-Time Product Search.
What happens if a competitor has very few recent reviews?
Anything below the 10-review threshold is skipped so the summary stays focused on competitors with enough signal to draw real conclusions.
Can I track competitors that don't sell on Google Shopping?
Not with this prompt. Pair it with a separate review monitor for G2, Trustpilot, or Capterra if your competitors are software products.
Will it overwrite last week's insights?
No. Each run appends a new dated page in your Notion insights database, so you build a running history you can revisit later.
How do I add or remove a competitor from the sweep?
Just edit the Notion watchlist database. The workflow re-reads it on every run, so changes take effect the following Monday.

Turn competitor complaints into your next product win.

Connect Notion, Slack, and Real-Time Product Search once, and Geni runs this every Monday at 8am.
