Weekly EasyPost shipping performance report by email
Every Monday, get a plain-language recap of last week's shipping spend, carrier performance, and delivery issues delivered straight to your inbox.
Every Monday at 7am, review the past week of shipping activity in EasyPost and email a short performance report to our operations lead.
Pull the past week's shipments with EasyPost's List Shipments, filtered to shipments created in the last seven days using the start and end datetime filters, and page through all results so nothing is missed. Each shipment carries its selected rate and cost as a US dollar amount, along with its carrier, service level, origin, destination, and tracking status.
From that data, calculate:
Total shipping spend for the week.
Spend and shipment count broken out by carrier.
Average cost per shipment.
On-time versus delayed deliveries, comparing each shipment's actual or estimated delivery against its expected delivery date.
The week's exception rate, meaning the share of shipments sitting in an exception, failure, or return state.
Then call out the cheapest and most expensive shipping lanes (origin to destination) and any carrier that underperformed on cost or reliability.
Write this up as a short, plain-language readout a manager can skim in about a minute: a one-line takeaway at the top, a few tight sections or bullets with the key numbers, and a sentence or two of narrative on what changed and what to watch. Do not dump a raw table of every shipment, and avoid jargon.
Email the finished summary to our operations lead through Gmail using Send a Message, with a clear subject line such as 'Weekly shipping performance: week of <date>'.
