Every Monday at 9:00am, generate a weekly performance report for my eBay store and email it to me. Target my primary eBay marketplace and cover the last completed 7 days, comparing them against the previous 7 days so you can report week-over-week movement.

Gather the data first. Use eBay's Get Traffic Report to pull listing traffic and conversion metrics (listing impressions, listing page views, click-through, and sales conversion rate) for the past 7 days, and again for the prior 7 days so you have a baseline. Use Get Orders, filtered by order creation date within the last 7 days, to retrieve the week's sales including order totals, quantities, and which listings sold. Use Get Ads to pull my Promoted Listings ad performance for the same period, capturing impressions, clicks, ad-attributed sales, and ad spend.

Then write a narrative report, not a raw data dump. Cover: my top listings by views and my top listings by sales; how overall conversion moved week over week and which listings drove the change; and whether Promoted Listings ad spend is actually driving incremental sales rather than just extra clicks, by comparing ad-attributed sales and spend against organic sales. Call out anything that stands out, like a high-traffic listing that barely converts.

Finish with two or three concrete, specific recommendations. For example: which listings to promote or bid up because they convert well but lack views; where conversion is lagging and the most likely reason (price, photos, title keywords, or shipping); and what to fix in a specific title or price. Reference the actual listings and numbers so the advice is actionable, and never edit any listing, price, or campaign yourself.

Deliver the report by email. Use Gmail's Create a Draft to build the report as a well-formatted email addressed to me with a clear subject line such as 'eBay weekly report: <date range>', then use Send a Draft to send that draft to my inbox. Keep the report skimmable with short sections and headers so I can read it in a couple of minutes.

Example output

Subject: eBay weekly report: Jul 7 to Jul 13 Headline: Sales up 14% week over week on flat traffic, so conversion is improving. Top listings by views: 1) Vintage Omega Seamaster (2,140 views), 2) Handmade leather camera strap (1,660), 3) Retro film camera bundle (1,290). Top listings by sales: 1) Handmade leather camera strap (28 sold, $812), 2) Retro film camera bundle (9 sold, $605), 3) Vintage Omega Seamaster (1 sold, $480). Conversion: overall sell-through rose from 2.1% to 2.6%. The camera strap carried the gain at 4.1%. The Omega pulls heavy traffic but converts at just 0.3%. Promoted Listings: $46 in ad spend drove $210 in ad-attributed sales (4.6x), mostly on the film camera bundle. The strap already sells organically, so ad spend there is largely wasted. Recommendations: 1) Move ad budget off the leather strap and onto the film camera bundle, which converts well but is under-viewed. 2) The Omega's 0.3% conversion on high traffic points to a price or trust issue. Test a lower Buy It Now and add detail photos. 3) Rewrite the strap title to lead with 'handmade full-grain'. Comparable sold listings using those terms average 12% higher prices.

Additional information

What does this prompt do?
  • Every Monday morning, pulls the past week of your eBay listing traffic, orders, and Promoted Listings ad results, and compares them to the week before.
  • Writes a narrative report: your top listings by views and by sales, and how conversion moved week over week and why.
  • Judges whether your Promoted Listings ad spend is actually driving extra sales, not just extra clicks.
  • Ends with two or three concrete moves (which listings to promote, where conversion is lagging, what to fix in a title or price) and emails the whole thing to your inbox.
What do I need to use this?
  • An eBay seller account, ideally with Promoted Listings running so the ad section has data.
  • A Gmail account to receive the report.
  • That's it. Once set up, the report writes and sends itself every week.
How can I customize it?
  • Change the day and time it runs, for example Sunday evening instead of Monday morning.
  • Send it to more than one address, like a business partner or a virtual assistant.
  • Shift the focus, such as leaning harder on ad ROI or on your slow-moving listings.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need to know how to code to use this?
No. You connect your eBay and Gmail accounts once, and the report is written and emailed for you on schedule.
What if I don't run Promoted Listings ads?
It still works. The report focuses on your traffic, conversion, and sales, and simply notes that there was no ad activity to analyze.
How far back does the report look?
It covers the last 7 days and compares them to the previous 7 days, so you can see week-over-week movement in traffic, conversion, and sales.
Will it change my listings or campaigns for me?
No. It only reads your store data and recommends what to do next. It never edits your titles, prices, or ad campaigns automatically.
Can it go to more than just me?
Yes. You can add a business partner, an assistant, or any other address you want on the report.
