Every Monday at 8am America/New_York, run a Product Hunt deal-flow sweep for our investment thesis and land the results in Attio and Slack.

Trigger: cron, weekly on Monday at 8am America/New_York.

Expose these as configurable inputs on the workflow: (1) thesis topics, a list of Product Hunt topic slugs, defaulted to ["artificial-intelligence", "developer-tools", "saas", "fintech"]; (2) upvote floor, a number defaulted to 150; (3) saved keywords for extra attention, defaulted to ["agent", "voice", "vertical AI"]; (4) Attio list name, defaulted to "Product Hunt deal flow"; (5) Slack channel, defaulted to #deal-flow.

Steps:

1. Call Product Hunt List Posts filtered to the configured topics and posted in the last 7 days, ordered by upvotes descending. Page through until every launch that matches the topic and date filter is loaded.

2. Keep only launches whose upvote count is at least the configured floor.

3. For each qualifying launch, capture the maker profile fields Product Hunt still exposes (names, usernames, any non-null links) plus the product's website URL and tagline.

4. For each maker, call Apollo People Enrichment to fill in LinkedIn URL, current title, and current employer. For each product domain, call Apollo Organization Enrichment to fill in headcount, funding stage, industry, and HQ location. Product Hunt redacted most maker fields in 2023, so Apollo is what actually makes each record useful.

5. For each enriched launch, upsert into Attio using Assert a Record on the companies object, matching on domain. Set fields including name, domain, description, industry, employee count, funding stage, and location.

6. Add each company to the configured Attio list using Create an Entry (Add Record to List). If the list does not exist yet, ask me to create it before the first run.

7. Attach a Create a Note to each company that captures: the Product Hunt tagline, upvote count, topics, maker names with LinkedIn URLs and titles, the launch URL, and a one-line investment-angle take written in plain prose. If a company already exists from a previous run, still write a fresh note so we have a running history.

8. Rank the qualifying launches from this run by upvotes and take the top five. Send a single digest to the configured Slack channel using slackbot Send a Message. The digest should list each of the five with: product name, one-line tagline, upvote count, funding stage, a link to the Attio company record, and a flag emoji (🎯) if the tagline, product name, or topics match any of the saved keywords.

Use the slackbot integration for the digest so it posts as our workflow bot into the shared channel, not as any individual user.

If Product Hunt returns zero qualifying launches in a given week, still send a short Slack message saying the sweep ran and nothing cleared the upvote floor, so we know the workflow is healthy.

Additional information

What does this prompt do?
  • Pulls last week's Product Hunt launches filtered to the topics you invest in, like AI, dev tools, SaaS, or fintech.
  • Keeps only launches with real early traction using an upvote floor you control.
  • Enriches every maker and product company with LinkedIn URLs, titles, headcount, funding stage, and location.
  • Upserts each launch as an Attio company on a Product Hunt deal flow list, with a note that captures the tagline, upvotes, makers, and a one-line investment take.
  • Posts a ranked top-five Slack digest every Monday morning and flags launches that match your saved keywords.
What do I need to use this?
  • A Product Hunt account.
  • An Apollo account with an API key. Enrichment consumes Apollo credits.
  • An Attio workspace with a list you want the deal flow to land in.
  • A Slack workspace and the channel where you want the weekly digest posted.
How can I customize it?
  • Change the topics your thesis covers, like adding climate, healthcare, or crypto.
  • Raise or lower the upvote floor that defines real early traction.
  • Swap the Slack channel or edit the saved keywords that trigger a worth-a-closer-look flag.
  • Change when it runs, like Sunday night instead of Monday morning, or every day instead of weekly.

Frequently asked questions

Does this work if my fund does not use Attio?
The prompt is written around Attio deal-flow lists because that is what most emerging funds run on. If you use a different CRM like HubSpot, Salesforce, or Airtable, you can swap it in when you generate the workflow.
Why enrich makers with Apollo instead of just using Product Hunt profiles?
Product Hunt redacted most maker fields, including LinkedIn and Twitter, back in 2023. Apollo fills in the blanks so each record has enough context to actually reach out on.
Will Apollo enrichment burn through my credit balance?
You only enrich launches that clear the upvote floor, which is usually a small handful per week. Raise the threshold if you want to spend less.
Can I run this daily instead of weekly?
Yes. Change the schedule to run every morning and set the lookback window to the previous day when you generate the workflow.
How do I change which Slack channel it posts to?
Point the digest at any channel or a specific person's DM when you set it up. You can also change the channel later by editing the workflow.
